How does professional Christmas light installation work?
Professional Christmas light installation is a full-season service: the installer designs the display, installs it, maintains it through December, then takes it down and stores it in the new year. In the Greater Toronto Area, bookings open in September and the best installation dates are usually gone by mid-November, so the slot is what you are securing early — the switch-on date is chosen separately. Buzz Lighting installs seasonal lighting on rooflines, gables, columns, trees and entrances for homes and commercial properties, and storage between seasons is included rather than billed as an add-on.
Timing
Book in September. Switch on whenever you like.
These two things get confused constantly, and the confusion is what costs people the date they wanted.

Book
The schedule fills in booking order. This is the only part that is genuinely time-sensitive.
October – early December
Install
Crews work through the queue. Weather moves individual days around; the queue position does not move.
January
Takedown
Down, checked, boxed, stored. Booked at the same time as the install.

What is included
Four things, and all four are in the price. The ones that usually turn out to be extras elsewhere are maintenance and storage.
Design
We walk the property, agree what gets lit and what stays dark, and settle the look before a single clip goes on.
Installation
Roofline, gables, columns, trees, wreaths and garland. Fitted properly, on the right clips for your fascia and shingles.
Maintenance
A string fails in the middle of December — because eventually one does. You call, we come back out. It is part of the service, not an extra.
Takedown and storage
Down in the new year, boxed, and stored by us until next season. Nothing goes in your garage.
Before you book a fifth season in a row
Seasonal lighting is a service you buy again every year. If you have been buying it for several years and you expect to stay in the house, it is worth at least pricing the alternative: a permanent outdoor LED lighting installation that does Christmas and then does something useful for the other eleven months.
We install both and we will quote both, side by side, on the same visit. That is a genuinely easier conversation to have with a company that has no reason to steer you.

When should I book Christmas lights?
September and early October. Installers work through a queue in the order it was booked, and by mid-November the good dates in the GTA are gone. Booking early does not mean the lights go on early — you pick your switch-on date, we just need the slot.
When do you install and when do you take down?
Installs run from October through early December, weather permitting, and you choose when the lights actually switch on. Takedown starts in January. Booking the install books the takedown at the same time — it is one service, not two.
Do you supply the lights, or do I?
Either. Most people are better off on installer-supplied commercial-grade product, because it is built for repeated install cycles and because it is our problem when a run fails. If you have lights you are attached to, we will look at them and tell you honestly whether they will survive the season.
Where do the lights get stored?
With us. They come down in January, get checked, boxed and labelled to your property, and go back up next season. That is the part people underestimate — the storage and the sorting is most of the annual misery.
Do you do commercial properties?
Yes — storefronts, plazas, offices and condo entrances. Commercial work needs booking earlier than residential because the install windows are tighter and access usually has to be arranged around trading hours.
Should I just get permanent lighting instead?
Possibly. If you plan to be in the house for years and you would use light on it outside December, permanent LED usually makes better sense over time. If you want December handled and nothing else, seasonal is the right call. We install both, so ask us and you will get a straight comparison rather than a pitch.
