What permanent lighting is

Your turn

Try it on a house

Pick a scene and watch the whole elevation change. On a real install that switch happens from your phone, in about four seconds.

Pick a scene

Every other night of the year

A drawing, not a photograph — because no camera can show you six colours on one house at once. What it shows is real: one fixture, mounted once, changed from your phone whenever you feel like it. Photographs of our own installs are in the gallery.

The money

Does permanent actually pay off?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no — it depends almost entirely on how long you are staying. We install both, so we have no reason to push you either way. Put your own numbers in.

Your numbers, not ours

Work out your own break-even

Install, takedown and storage together. If you do it yourself, put what you would pay someone else to.

$800a year

This is the number that actually decides it. If you are moving soon, seasonal wins.

10years

Over 10 years, seasonal lighting costs you

$8,000

and at the end of it you own nothing.

What to do with that

$8,000 is your break-even number. When you get a quote for a permanent installation — from us or from anyone — that is the figure to hold it against.

Get a number for my house

Straight multiplication, nothing hidden. It ignores two things that both favour permanent: the eleven months a year you would also have light on the house, and never having to be home for an install or a takedown again.

More on what moves the number: what outdoor lighting costs.

The process

Four steps, no surprises

Nobody enjoys the part where a trade turns up and the price changes. This is the whole sequence.

The full installation process
  1. 01

    On-site measure

We measure the actual roofline, look at access and soffit depth, and work out what the house can carry.

  2. 02

    Layout and colour

Where the run starts and stops matters more than people expect. We agree the layout, and the trim colour the channel is matched to.

  3. 03

    Install day

Channel goes up under the eave, the controller goes somewhere sensible and dry, and we clean up after ourselves.

  4. 04

    Set up your scenes

We do not hand you an app and leave. Your warm white gets dialled in, your first few scenes get built, and you drive it before we go.

Quick Answer

What is Buzz Lighting?

Buzz Lighting installs permanent architectural LED lighting and seasonal Christmas lighting on homes and businesses across the Greater Toronto Area. Permanent lighting is a slim LED channel fitted under the eave in a colour matched to your trim — close to invisible by day, and app-controlled at night, so one fixture covers warm white year-round and full colour for Christmas, Halloween or a game night. Christmas lighting is the full seasonal service: design, install, maintenance, takedown and storage. Buzz Lighting is owner-operated and serves Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton, Vaughan, Oakville, Markham, Richmond Hill, Burlington, Hamilton, Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, Caledon, Milton, Georgetown, Halton Hills, King City, Woodbridge and Thornhill. Estimates are free and done on site.

Questions & answers

The things people ask

If yours is not here, ask it on the estimate form — it will reach Alex, not a queue.

What is permanent outdoor lighting?

A slim LED channel mounted permanently under the eave and along the roofline, wired to a controller you run from your phone. It stays on the house year-round, so there is no annual install and no ladder. Each point can be a different colour, which is what lets one fixture cover warm white on an ordinary Tuesday and full colour at Christmas.

Can you see it during the day?

Barely. The channel is fitted tight under the eave in a colour matched to your fascia or trim, so from the street it reads as a shadow line rather than a fixture. That is the whole difference between permanent lighting and lights that are simply always up.

How is this different from putting Christmas lights up every year?

Seasonal lighting is a service you buy again every year — install, maintenance, takedown, storage. Permanent lighting is a one-time installation you then own. Buzz Lighting does both, and which one makes sense depends on how long you plan to stay in the house and whether you want light on it outside December.

Do you take Christmas lights down and store them?

Yes. Our seasonal service covers design, installation, maintenance through the season, then takedown in the new year and storage until next December. You never handle the lights.

How long do the lights last, and what is the warranty?

Lifespan and warranty come from the manufacturer of the fixture line specified for your home, and we put those exact terms in writing on your quote. We would rather show you the manufacturer’s own numbers than quote you a headline figure here.

Which areas do you cover?

Buzz Lighting serves Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton, Vaughan, Oakville, Markham, Richmond Hill, Burlington, Hamilton, Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, Caledon, Milton, Georgetown, Halton Hills, King City, Woodbridge and Thornhill.

Are you a franchise?

No. Buzz Lighting is owner-operated. Alex quotes the job, and the same small crew installs it. There is no 1-800 queue and no rotating subcontractor.
